Default Help with 240d

When I was driving the car today it turned off. It felt like it was running out of fuel and just turned off, after losing speed. I barely made it home. I put a whole tank of fuel in before this happened. What could be wrong? I need help ASAP it is my only car.

Could you have accidentally pumped the wrong fuel? I would check that before anything else.

Otherwise, perhaps you've encountered an obstruction in the lines or filters. Or perhaps your in-tank strainer is clogged. It would also be helpful to have some information about where you live. How cold is it? Is your fuel possibly gelled?

I bought diesel I usually go to the same station. I use also the Diesel Kleen fuel gell additive, it does get cold here. I live in NC the nights can get down to the 20's, so I started to use the anti gel additives to help. I replaced both filters 4 moths ago, with good filters too. I was looking a today and the secondary filter still has fuel in it so it must be getting fuel. Is there any thing else that could be a problem?

Glad you figured it out. Now that you know what the problem was you need to look at a couple things. 4 months after a filter change is really soon for it to become completely obstructed again. You've got a lot of sediment or debris in there somewhere. I would seriously consider cleaning out the fuel lines and also your tank.

Just got a '74 240d. Runs okay (minus mastercylinder and alternator problems) except when I get about 55mph uphill, it seems like it starts losing power. It's got around 170k miles. Primary filter is new, but don't know about the secondary...is this my most likely problem?

I should add, I realize it only has around 70hp to start with...I'm not expecting to win races, it just seems a bit off.
