hello i'm looking for info on how 617 G/P "BOX & G/Ps work are they 6 volt energized for short intervals to prevent burn out ? also how does box get info, as at 85 C [apprx 180 F] box is not active the reason for this info request is my other vehicle 6.9 ford p/u IDI international V8naturally aspired, isa very popular truck here in the states a number of sites are dedicated to it.however it does have itsdesign faultsthe largest STARTING WHEN COLD factory system is usually modified to a momentery contact switch that is triggered manualy bridging BOX and counting 1001 1002 etc the flaw in this is that it is a 1 operator vehicle.my goal is to have suffice understanding to adapt a tried and true system 617 [15 yrs multiple operators2 vehicles no pre heat probs] to my p/u many thanks bng
