hey guys, I'm planning a short trip in my 77 240D w/4 speed. I was wondering what a safe speed over extended periods is for this motor? I don't have a tach so I can't tell what the RPM's are @ 75. Driving it home on the interstate I took it easy, but on this trip I'd like to travel at least 75MPH. I know this is a stupid question, but I don't want to push it. Curt

 

Curt i've had no problem with my 240d on the highway. it will hold 80 just fine but i know what you mean it sounds like it's going to go through the hood but don't worry mine hasn't the only problem i have is windy days and big hills

 

Thanks guys for the response. It gives me more confidence in the car for the trip. I was a little concerned because the RPM's sounded so high when I'm on the interstate. Skippy your right it does sound like its going to come through the hood. I sure wish it was a 5 speed. Curt
