Smile 2011 Bluetec Check Engine Light

Hello!

I have a 2011 ML 350 Bluetec with 47,000 miles.

The "Check Engine" light has been a major issue over the past 2 months. I've taken the car to more than one dealership service center - they repeatedly state that...

-They don't know what the error codes mean
-They don't know why the light keeps turning on

So, they "reset" the computer - I leave... and a week later - the light comes on again. During the last visit to service, they had my car for over 2 weeks. I drove for about 500 miles more... and then this morning - the light is on again. Ugh!

I even took it to a private MB mechanic... he couldn't figure it out.

I'm worried that ...
1. I'm being played - that they really know what's wrong but don't want to fix my car
2. They really don't know what the problem is! How scary is that?!?

So, I have used the magic of 'google' and found this forum. Anyone have any ideas that I can tell the service center to investigate???

It is still under warranty - for a short while longer.... Yay for me. I'm hopeful to get to the bottom of this crazy "Check Engine Light".

Thank you for your time and assistance,
js

Did you ever figure this out? My 2015 model is at the dealer for the 6th time and same issue. Thanks.

What was the initial reason why you got a CEL? How is the car driving? Any noticeable issues?

Car drives great when it's not in the shop. 6th time for engine light. They have changed everything out and still light comes on.

I'm not sure what state/country you live in, but I would check the rules regarding a 'lemon' - in California, where we are; if a car goes to the dealer more than 4 or 5 times (don't remember the exact number) for the same issue; you can request that the car be titled a 'lemon' and get some of your money back. I had a good friend go through this process and was able to essentially get his money back for the car. Not sure if this is relevant in your case; but at least an FYI.

The car was a bought from a Mercedes dealer who buys the off lease cars. I am the second owner. I am sure there is no recourse but I am still under warranty. I live in Tennessee.
