How badly did I screw up???

How badly did I screw up???
I have a black CLS55. I washed the car today and then put a coat of Blackfire paint protection (wax) on the car. Then I was going to put a carnuba spray mist on top of it. I sprayed on 1/2 of the hood, wiped around to even it on, and found out I had mistakenly spray wheel cleaner instead. Nasty stuff.
I immediately wiped it off with 2 wet rags.
Put on a coat of Menzerna intensive polish on the entire hood and part of the front fenders to blend it in, rub that on and then buffed it off.
I rewashed the front part of the car.
I reapplied a thick coat of the Black fire paint protection wax.
Did I recover in time? What if anything else can I do? Please don't give me scary stories, just facts and suggestions.

RE: How badly did I screw up???
It depends whether the wheel cleaner is acidic or not, but let's hope the cleaner isn't. If it is,the acid might eat through the paint like it does to crack, craze or discolor brake calipers and take away the finish on wheels. Your car should be fine though to be honest.

with modern production painting techniques i have had people spill brake fluid on the factory paint and have no ill effects. your only worry is if your hood is repaint. even then if they shot a good layer of clear coat it would take more than a few seconds to cause damage even on a fresh panel with no wax.

OK not a good situation.
But it sounds like when you discovered your mistake you
took effective and quick action.
It would have been better to have WASHED that section again.
Instead of wiping with just plain rags.
But a few seconds of Wheel Cleaner won't damage it.
Unless you used some of that acid wheel cleaner garbage.
If I was you;
I would DAWN liquid the affected area.
Stripping ALL Wax and gunk from affected area
Then apply Meguiars NXT Polymer wax that is WOW on your
obsidian black paint job.
Super protection
Super results
I am glad you quickly acted!
check out the Meguiars NXT
Its AMAZING.

Like everybody is saying you probably did no damage, just 2 points I would like to make...
1. If any of yor products have any abrasive qualities, trash it, I use polish and clay that do a great job with out any abrasives (including wheel cleaner).
2. When ever something spills on my car that I am concerned about I wash, clay and wash my car. At that point the paint is clean but unprotected, you will need to polish, glaze or wax the car. I would recommend a polish andglaze or wax.
