I read somewhere a few months ago about drop in speakers for MB. I need to replace my front and rear speakers in my W124.

Does anyone know what the German company was called who made these?

the german company is called rainbow audio (www.rainbow-audio.de) check out the IQ LINE. i bought a set of the drop in speakers for my dash and back deck, they sound great and were easy to install. i thought i was going to have to get a new radio/cd but i was able to keep the factory unit with these.

it took me three months but i found a dealer thirty minutes outside chicago that had them, it was worth the wait. i just read on their web site that they have a USA office so give them a call to find a dealer.
