I am purchasing a C230 within the next two months. I am considering purchasing the Command head unit. My question is: can the command for the 2005 c class play MP3 cd's, DVD video, and DVD Audio? If not, is there a firmware upgrade to make it do so. I know there is a firmware upgrade (although I don't know how to get it) for the E class Command to allow MP3 playback.

 

2005 W203s with DVD comand:

* will only have an integrated navigation drive; no DVD capability in the comand unit itself
* will need an additional TV tuner connected to the comand in order to be able to watch DVDs.
* TV while in motion may not be possible on these DVD comands.
* Don't know for sure about the MP3 capability, though, but it may be possible that you need an MP3 CD changer for it...

I have an '05 C Class with Comand and it does have an AUX audio input 3.5mm jack in the glove box which I connect my iPod to. I do not know if the non Comand cars have this jack. My '04 non-Comand C Class certainly did not have this feature. As far as I know, the Comand head unit will not play DVD's other than the one containing the navi data.

 

You can buy a TV tuner for the command system easily on ebay.de (german version).
