Added XM to GL450 with RSE
I have seen a few posts on people asking if XM can be added to a GL450 with an RSES installed. I was able to do it with no problem at all and it works and sounds great.
If you are interested, here is all you need.
# 1 - (Euro female to Motorola male) - $19.99

# 2 - (OEM male to Motorola female) - - $19.99

# 3 - (Delphi SA10112 FM Modulator Adapter) - $24.99

Steps -
Step# 01
With your hands unlatch the panel with the climate control and switches on it by pulling out from the bottom to release (2) clips. Tilt panel out and up, then angle out and down. Release the panel and set aside. Do Not disconnect any wires.
Step# 02
Remove the lower (2) T-20 Torx radio screws, as they will allow the (2) radio release slide bars to be moved down. With a tool or your finger push the (2) slide bars below the radio down as far as possible. Pull the radio out from the bottom with your hands. Pull it straight out.
Step# 03
Remove antennea connection from rear or radio and use the three parts listed above to reconnect.
Step# 04
Replace the radio and climate control panel in reverse order.
This will allow you to listen to XM via FM Modulator that will interup FM signal while XM radio is on. In order to listen to Radio, just turn XM off.
The only thing that I have not been able to find is a good bracket for the GL450 but I have asked Pro-Fit International to create one and they should have one soon.
I hope this helps.

actually you really are recommending a badband-aid to an already degraded sat signal. there is another option, get the aux in on it,and toggle the smart switcher inputs of the RSES so it won't see both. Still a band-aid but the quality of the sound is up...
The Aux is being used by the RSES - I heard that there was a switch that can be purchased but have not been able to locate it - Is it as easy as unplugging from the back of the radio and into the switch and then running the extra cable to the glove box? Do you know where I can get info on the switch and or the the layout of the rear of the command radio?
By the way, I found the bracket http://www.panaviseonline.com/product.php?id=1371

I will look tomorrow for the wire colors, they just did GL for an iPod here today, and it had the RSES. I think the tech said there was a smart switcher that comes with the iPod kit for the occasion, if not it is as easy as cutting the RSES input and get a solid state audio switcher.
or just relay the L+ and R+ via 2 relays and a toggle...
Or wait about 2 months and I will have a plug and play option...
