A140 Stereo Wiring
 

Hi,

Someone recently helped themself to the stereo in my wife's A140, including the connectors leaving me with bare wires that are thankfully long enough to use. Could someone help me with a list of the colours and functions of the wires so I can fit new ISO connectors? (there are for instance 4 'twisted pairs' that I'm guessing are the speaker wires.)

that's right, they're for speakers.

there are at least 4 wiring diagram for your model.

it will help a lot if you can tell us the vin number so i can give you the exact one.

Thanks for the link. That site doesn't seem to cover the A140 (am I right in getting the impression that the A-Class is the unwanted sprog of the Merc family?) or maybe the A-Class is too new. I think I can work out which speaker pair is which and the power/illumination wires using a DVM, just the active antenna control (if indeed it has one, I think the aerial may be built into the rear window heater or something.)

Here's the complete list of wires I have hanging out out the dash. (pink/blue means pink with blue stripe)

Thick Wires :-
Pink/blue
Brown
Brown/pink and pink (Twisted pair)
Pink/White
Brown/green and brown (Twisted pair)
Brown/red and brown/black (Twisted pair)
Pink/white and brown/white (Twisted pair)

Thin wires :-
grey/blue
blue/white
pink
green/black

oh, i'm very sorry. i thought it was sclass 140.

please remind me on monday next year. i will send you the wiring diagram.

there are two kinds. i will assume that your's was after 1998.

if your car doesn't have the amplifier, please tell me. i can send the other one. but you have to GIVE ME YOUR VIN (chassis nymber)!

Good day. Are those attached stereo wiring diagrams for A140 S600?
just wanna make sure with the wirings coz I'm planning to add tweeters in the dash.
