Default 2000 E320 Wagon Bose Speaker Problem

My right front passenger speaker started to "break up" and sounds like static during higer frequency passages. I've read that this is a typical symptom of the Bose amp failure (Passenger front speaker distortion).

I'd like to approach this from the standpoint of easiest to fix first as the most reasonable cost.
Some other considerations on my part;
* I want to keep the steering wheel controls.
* I have the 6 CD Changer in my passenger wheel well that I'd like to keep.

I see in this forum that there are links to amp repair sites. Where is the amp located in the 2000 E320 4-Matic Wagon?

Thanks in advance for your help!
