Default 1994 E320 Code 3 returns! AHHH!

I can't believe it! After replacing the O2 sensor last fall, the CE light stayed off for 6 months. Then, lo and behold! It's back on again! AHHHH! Code 3 again (faulty Lambda control). OBD1 sucks!

Any help would be appreciated. Could my O2 have gone bad that fast? I have NO vaccum leaks. Car runs great but not as good on gas as before, exhaust smells a little. Any help appreciated greatly.

Thanks

How is your MAF?

Sometimes when the MAF goes bad the engine runs runs rich or lean & the 02 sensor gets a sniff of that & you get the 02 error message.

Thanks.

In the meantime I had taken the o2 out and cleaned it with maf sensor cleaner, but noticed it was about 90% tightened so I tightened it back up all the way. Also I cleaned the MAF sensor at the same time.
The light hasn't come back on since (been 6 days now). So it could have been either the wires were wet, the O2 wasn't tight enough or the MAF sensor was dirty (or the O2 was contaminated?). All I know is the light is off for good this time. Your posts are very reassuring.
Thanks!
