Battery Charge Indicator Light
Dear All,

I am a new member to this forum. I live in London (UK) andhave a CLK 230 Kompressor (1999).

Earlier today, while driving the car the "Battery Charge Indicator" red warning light came on and has stayed on since. Although I have noticed that when I press the accelerator pedal, the light dims.

How can I fix the problem.

Thanking you in advance for your help.

Battery Charge Indicator Light
before you replace the battery you should check the running voltage supplied to the battery from your alternator. If your light gets dimmer the higher the engine speed that would usually indicate your voltage regulator in your alternator is bad. If the car won't start after it's sat for a while then change the battery. Even with a dead battery your alternator should be able to keep the volts high enough to where your discharge light stays out. Voltage Regulator!!

RE: Battery Charge Indicator Light
Hi I've just joined the forum and find the questions and answers a great help. With regard to your problem with the charging light , its almost certainly a faulty alternator. One or possibly two diodes have gone causing a low output . This can easily be verified by putting a voltmeter across the battery with the engine running about 2000rpm. You shoud read approx. 13.5 volts - any lower, change the alternator or get it repaired.
Hope this is of help!
