supposed to change it at 38 thousand miles, I dont have an answer for you on the fluid. youll need to fill it from the drain plug! there is no fill tube! dont get screwed by draining out the fluid. youll need about 5 to 6 quarts though.

if you have a 7 speed trans a 722.9 trans there is no fill tube. if you have an older 5 speed 722.6 yes there is a fill tube.

Default 722.6 transmission tool

Yeah its called a dipstick to check transmission fluid levels in the fill which is sealed for life and only mechanics have the tool unless you buy online I paid 7$ eBay. Also hint. I got a oil pump or syphon top side oil change pump at Sears for $15 and wallmart has the same specs transmission oil for 722.6 for under 20$ easy way to keep clean oil and not pay at least $200 for a simple drain and refill. Plus eBay or mercedes has filters and gaskets and the crush washer mine was originally done at Indy's for $200 but I double checked the work to see if I needed the wiring harness from transmission 13 pin connector to be replaced if you havent it will "wick" up the electrical and fry the TCU. Hope someone gets good help and piece of mind . ( My 13 pin plug looks dry so Ieft it and still have extra filter and gasket. $13 on eBay. With 13 pin connector not sure on quality but it would of been a temporary fix if I saw oil on my connection harness withing the transmission under the ATM oil pan.) YouTube has fit videos to help you with what tools you'll need and process. Adios.

NAG 1 mercedes Benz spec
Valvoline max life synthetic ATM Fluid . 5 quart for 19$ one of these is about how much come sou of my 2000 w208 clk when I use the top side pump to change fluids. You may want to go with eBay and just get mb brand red gold transmission oil ... my wallmart carries this spec nag-1 mb ATM valvoline mAx Life.. UPDATED mine is only 722.6 transmission not the newer 722.9

I thought I did the correct research and that was okay to use. Is that not the right spec NAG - 1 mercedes benz oil specific qualified? Whoever is doing this DIY will be able to find the same information as I did and therefore make the decision to use this low priced fluid. My car is running better than before I did the service on my tranny just to verify that I think it is okay to use and correct info. I just didnt want to wait another week for eBay to send to my door. You can get mercedes OEM fluid for close to the same price I'm sure. Plan ahead very detailed you dont want to mess anything up doing a transmission DIY on your beloved. Clk

Every 40,000 miles on factory fluid.

You can upgrade the fluid using Amsoil signature fuel efficient ATF which is capable of 100k mile drain intervals and shifts better than the OEM fluid.
