Default COST OF BRAKE PAD REPLACEMENT

Can somebody tell me what you guys pay to have brake pads replaced.
I just got several quotes without rotors in the $500-%600 range.......I almost fell of my chair.
I realize this is a mercedes....but come on. I drove mercedes and bmw in when i lived in germany and paid at max half of that..................are thesebreak pads gold plated or something. I mean I hate to sound ignorant but i think thats outrages for a c230k
let me know what u pay

I bought my very good quality front replacement pads from a local (Atlanta) Benz mechanic for about $75 and the replacement sensors from a Benz dealership for about $22 and changed them myself on my 2001 C240.

If you in the Atlanta Metro Area, try www.oliversl.comrather than the Mercedes dealership.

Brakes on my C 280 are actually very easy. Just dont rush it and do it on a Saturday. First off, when you change the pads you SHOULD change the rotors. NEVER turn down the rotors on a MBZ. If you are really trying to watch your money you can possibly and I repeat possibly get away without getting new rotors if you have enough "meat" on the rotors (I belive it should be about 27 to 28 mm left on the rotor) you will want to double check this yourself but, whenever I change my pads I ALWAYS change the rotor (that smooth breaking that you love so much on your Benz is becuase of the rotors AND the pads wearing evenly). If you get someone that knows how to change brakes on ANY car they should be able to assist you on changing the brakes on your Benz (save your money for beer brother!!!!)
