handful of weights+ AP transponders= shakes?
On the new C300, my car's wheels came with about fifteen to twenty of the lead weights stuck inside the rim. My other cars use maybe five at the most. Does anyone know if all this weight is to balance the air-pressure transponder in the wheel? Can the transponders be removed without setting an alarm? My factory wheels shake and vibrate and I trying to get to the bottom of it.

Thanks for the honest answer. I suppose I can let mercedes off the hook. Maybe if I can get the wheels balanced better, the rattles will go away.
Does anybody have a pic of these air pressure sensors? The things must weigh 500 grams...I don't like the idea at all. (clinching side-cutting pliars in hand) |
