190E wheels size help?

I just got a 1990 190E 2.6 and I don't know what size wheels/tires can fit on there. I'd like a set of 17 or 18" rims, but how wide of tires can I fit?

Let's put it this way, my 18 inch rims have rear tires that are 9.5'sand the front tires are 8.5's. Is that big enough? :D

That's definitely big enough.;)So thats at least a 225 in the front and 255 in the rear? Will there be any rubbing problems?

With the right tires and stock suspension, no there shouldn't be rub. If you plan to drop your car or not go with low profiles, then yes.

RE: 190E wheels size help?

ON a 190E you need to be careful of wheel & tire sizes, in 17" you need a 7.5 or 8.0 width max. with a minimum of a 35mm offset. 38-40 is better. Tire size should be 215/45-17, some guys run 245/40-17 in the rear, but most times it rubs and you need to modify the fenders. Another way to go is 215/40-17 front and 245/35-17 rear. these are very hard to find, and very easy to damage due to the low profile.

In 18" you will need the same width and offsets, but your tire size needs to be 225/35-18.

If you are in the N.Y. area, call Parts & Polish @ 516-466-3553 ask for Jonathan, tell him Dennis sent you!

Good Luck!

hey how you doing I just bought some rims for my 190e that were from a SL merc that are the same size and I think same bolt pattern but when I tried to put the lug nuts in they wouldn't fit I was wondering if I need spacer or just need new rims altogether
Any ideas

17" is good enough

Alright, professionals, I'm relying on you! Will 225/60R17 tires on 17x17.5" wheels fit my 1991 190E 2.6? Thanks in advance for your assistance. Best, Ron
