Smile FS 1965 Mercedes Benz 220 SEB/C Fin Tail

For sale is a 1965 Mercedes Benz 220 SEB/C Euro Spec Car. It is a 2 door coupe. It is in beautiful original condition. It was repainted a number of years ago but besides that it is basically original. The odometer shows 38,244 kilometers but the exact mileage is unknown . We have no way to authenticate the mileage. The instruments are in kilometers. The odometer works, but not sure about the mileage, whether it’s 38,244 or 138,244, etc . . . . But these are kilometers, not miles.
  • It has a 2.2 liter 6 cylinder with mechanical fuel injection and a 4 speed manual transmission.
  • The car is a deep blue which is supposed to be an original color and a beautiful tan leather interior. The seats and carpeting are in great original condition. I don’t see any tears or excessive wear.
  • This car has a sun roof with the original deflector that is in perfect condition.
  • The car has the original Becker Grand Prix Radio.
  • The car does have front seat belts.
  • The trunk has the original mat, spare tire and jack.
  • The car has a brand new battery as it hadn’t been run in a number of years.
  • The stainless trim on the car is in beautiful condition.
  • All of the glass appears to be original. There is no delamination on any of the glass.
  • The car has the original Mercedes locking gas cap.
  • It has been brought to our attention that the car is different details than the American version. The headlights and license plate bracket is different. Some of the emblems are different as is the speedometer.
  • It has 4 matching Michelin X tires. They have some minor age cracking. Their age is unknown.
I am selling this car for a friend who bought it but just doesn’t have the time to enjoy it. He had the battery replaced. He also had some repair work done to underneath of the car. There was some rust seeing we do live in Cleveland so he had a body shop fabricate panels to reinforce these areas. They said the car was still sound and safe. You can see from the attached pictures that were taken at the body shop of the areas that were impacted. I’m told these specific areas are common for rust on these cars. The repairs did not impact the actual trunk floor or the fenders of the car. The bill for this work will be included. It was approximately $1,100.00.
It is a complete car. Possibly some items are not original but the current owner is not an expert, nor am I, on Mercedes. Obvious things that we found are that the right rear bumper has some rust on it and the tail light has a crack. The front filler panels between the headlights and the grill have some cracks in the paint. It is nothing real obvious. The rubber seals around the windows seem to be pretty dried out. I took pictures of these and can provide them. I would think that this would be normal for an unrestored car. The front windshield has a small chip on the driver’s side and a larger chip on the passenger side. We noticed the horn doesn’t work nor does the original radio and the gas guage which is stuck on full. The steering wheel has some age cracks as you can see from the interior picture. There are 4 toggle switches mounted under the dash which we are not aware of what they are.
The car seems to run well. It hasn’t been driven much. It doesn’t smoke or tick or knock. It has normal quirks for a car this age. The mechanical fuel injection doesn’t seem to run as smooth during cold start up as the modern electronic injection systems do. It seems to run normal for a car this age. Please see our links to Youtube to hear it run.
We welcome your inspection at your own cost. This vehicle is being sold as is where is. The car has a clear title and is located in Northeast Ohio. Buyer is responsible for arranging pickup or shipping of vehicle. $250 Deposit required via Paypal within 24 hours of auction end and balance due upon pickup of vehicle.
VIN: 11102110073595
This would be a great car to drive and enjoy. You would be guaranteed not to park next to another one at a Cruise In or Car Show. Mercedes of this vintage will only be appreciated from this point on. This car is in the same family as the Mercedes Benz 220 220S 220SE 220C. We welcome all questions and can forward more pictures upon request.
Check out ebay for the pictures currently on ebay. Here's the link
