I suspect the previous owner sold the car for less because his mechanic had been unsuccessfully chasing engine fuel leaks for a couple of years, replacing one expensive component after another. But it turned out the leaks were simply coming from the fuel hoses, a relatively inexpensive fix. Go figure!

The car now has new Mobil 1 5W-40 synthetic oil, new Mahle oil filter, new primary and secondary fuel filters, fresh brake fluid, and a new front flex disc. This weekend I'm going to do a diesel purge but the engine is already sounding better than when I acquired it. It's a keeper!

I am responding to this post for 2 reasons:

1) I have a 93 300d that I am considering selling. The car runs very well, but I just bought a 2006 CDI, so I no longer need it. I've owned it for 13 years. It has 197K miles on it. Any idea what I could sell it for?

2) Looks like you own a plane. I am also a pilot, and had a 172 when I lived in CA (I now live in GA).

Any input from other readers about what I could expect to get for the car would be appreciated. I am the second owner.
