1990 Mercedes 300D TurboDiesel for Sale (St. Louis)
 

Hey guys,

I've decided to sell my 1990 Mercedes-Benz 300D TurboDiesel. The car has 99,xxx original miles (barely broken in!) and runs very strong. It gets anywhere from 30-35 MPG on the highway and in the mid to upper 20s in the city. It has not been adapted for biodiesel, but that's easy enough to do. I just don't have time anymore to dedicate to it (those plans went out the window when we found out we will soon have a son born with Muscular Dystrophy). This car has been a reliable daily driver for me now for a year and a half. White, 4-door sedan, dark blue interior, all in great shape, especially considering its age. No rust! Dash is not cracked, seats are in fantastic condition, just some minor dings and scratches here and there. New Alpine stereo with detachable face and adapter for iPod, etc. Power windows & seats. Vacuum locks. No cracks or chips in glass or anything like that. It has also been well maintained and repaired when necessary. The only thing I can think of that's wrong with it right now is the antenna motor needs to be replaced (won't go up when the radio is turned on). New alternator and battery, too.

Forgot to mention this car has a sunroof, too. Doesn't leak and works great! I'm also getting the antenna replaced this week, so that will be a non-issue.

I paid $6,800 for the car a year and a half ago, and there were other bids besides mine for over $6k (yes, it was on eBay). I looked for quite a while, and could not even come close to finding an "excellent" one for $3,225... they were all easily twice that price and there were absolutely none in my area (which is why I had to fly to Philly to buy it). The fact that it's a diesel and the growing biodiesel craze makes them worth quite a bit more than what the book might tell you. By the way, in that time I have only driven it 7,000 miles and have put in over $3,000 in maintenance/repairs. I don't think I'll be listing it for what KBB says as I just don't think it'd be smart for me to lose over $6,000 on this (I'll be losing enough as it is), but thanks for your input.

Thats nonsense. One of the first things a buyer asks is about the service history. One that's been fully serviced is always going to bring more money.

Hey, look man. I'd appreciate it if you'd keep your opinions to yourself. I will list it on eBay if and when I'm ready. I don't need you to tell me where to sell my car or what price to sell it at. Also, you know very little about biodiesel. You do not need to "convert" this car to run it on biodiesel (only SVO). All you need to do is make sure your hoses are upgraded (blue line) and that it has an extra fuel filter to filter out all the gunk that the biodiesel will clean. Then you can pump B100 right into the fuel tank. And I can tell you that the biodiesel craze has NOT died down. In fact, it's as strong as ever. Visit some of the online forums for biodiesel and you'll see.
