1983 240D
I have owned this car for a little over a year. I originally purchased it as a commuting vehicle, but I have recently moved within biking/public transportation distance of work and now rarely use it.
The car is in excellent condition. No rust on the body (from what I understand, a rare thing for cars of this vintage) and in good running order. This car has a little over 270,000 miles on it, however, if you do a bit of searching you will find that the 240 D is one of the most durable cars ever made and has been known to run for 1,000,000 miles. About six months ago I replaced the alternator, the rear axle and all four controller arms. The belt that the previous owner installed started to fray and I had that replaced as well. Before posting on craigslist I took it in to my mechanic for a "pre-sale" inspection, basically inviting him to find any work that needed doing. The only item he came up with was that the windshield sprayer was not working. I haven't had much reason to track down the part yet, but I will certainly order it if there is some interest.
The car runs well on both petro- and bio- diesels and averages 25 - 30 mpg mixed city and freeway. It is a lot of fun to drive and is sure to turn heads wherever you go.
I am willing to consider other reasonable offers.
