83 240d poor compression... Rebuild?
Bought a car. Done that lots. I've owned I think 12 or 13 123s in various conditions. This 240 has all but killed my love of these cars. Its got new injectors a timed pump timing chain and valve adjustment. Suuuuuch a dog though. Dang thing starsr wimpering at the meer sight of a 2% grade. Lots of blowby no power to speak of. A buddy's got a nice shop and suggests re-ringing and doing the valve bearings, but another friend said that after tryin two different re-ring jobs on these motors he came to the conclusion that if you are going to bother then you might as well sleeve and install new pistons. Soooo what is the standard, should I not bother poping the head and just run it out as a backup hoopty or what?? Also wondering about laping them valves vs. havin them ground.. Appreciate any advice fellahs, thanks
