need and anti lock system
 

i have a 1998 clk 320 coupe my check engine light shows that i am having a problem with the anti lock abs, bas and other lights pertaining to the antilock system so i think i need a new anti lock system so if some one has one plese get back to me i really need it thanks -chris

The Check Engine Light (CEL) is totally different to the ABS, BAS, ASR, ESP lights which are all braking systems of a type.

Is the CEL on as well? This will be a yellow warning light that looks like an engine with a propellor on the end or the words "Check Engine".

If your brake system warning lights are on then you may well have a defective or incorrectly adjusted brake light SWITCH.

Is your car automatic? If so does your car have an electronic interlock on the shifter. (i.e. You have to put your foot on the brake to move from PARK). If so does the shifter move?

Do your brake lights work?

Do you have Cruise control. If so does it work?

It is extremely unlikely that you need a new braking system! It will most likely be just a simple switch or sensor.
