Is it necessary to purchase the jacking-up shoe and jacks as shown in the Service Manual?
Some of the guys in the forum as I've seen through the pictures put ordinary jack stands under the plug-in tubes.
Can we use a floor jack and where can jack up the car other than the plug-in holes/tubes?
Thanks.

Recently got a maintenance & service manual on CD. That's why I was asking about the use of jack-up shoes and jack stands. I need to do something about the tranny.
Checked the ATF level hot and cold, both were 2 cm above the max level line. Extracted some of the fluid till it was just above the max line. For one thing, the clunking sound is gone when shifting to reverse or drive when parking. No clunks when the engine hasn't reached operating temp. Now, shifting to R or D, I've have to wait for 2 secs. before the car moves.
With the ATF at normal level and my tranny acting weird, should I have it rebuilt or its just a matter of changing the infamous B2 piston and some other worn out plastic and rubber parts?

I'd like to post this in the Diesel Forum but this is more of a W123 topic.
Something's wrong with brain again. Can't figure out how to put back the hard plastic cover of the vacuum manifold located on top of the valve cover. Was wrestling with it for 30 mins. Had to quit before I break something and aggravate the situation.

A have heard a lot of the 123s have busted odometers. I got to fix mine and the trip meter seems to be the culprit in the assembly. I noticed that every 10th km/ml., there is a snag in the gears putting a bit of force on the odometer metal shaft eventually smoothening it out.
I don't know if this is common with the other 123 trip meters or just mine?
