Alright fellas, I have a 1990 300SE Mercedes Benz and need some help. I can't accelerate past 4000 RPM. I have tried dropping it back down into 2 while accelerating well past what would be the 4k in the lower gear and it only slows down and then jumps back and forth around 4000 RPM. It shouldn't be red lining until about 6k or at least that's what the gauge says. I don't think Mercedes puts rev-limiters into their cars, at least not that low. Can some one plz help me?!?!?! exhaust system not blocked?

does fuel pressure goes down when it reach 4k rpm?

 

How do I go about finding out either one of those?

 

drop down the exhaust pipe and step on it.

attach fuel gauge and see if it drops down.

 

try removing the air filter too for it might be clogged up?
