<FONT face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" color=black size=3>I own an 86 300SDL with 200,000 miles on it. I just purchased it from someone who did not maintain it well. On a trip today it consumed 2 quarts of oil in 130 miles. Also, there is what sounds like a valve tapping that comes and goes. I am using 5-40 weight semi synthetic oil. Is there anything I can do to correct these problems? Is there an oil weight that would reduce oil consumption and or stop the tapping sounds? Thanks for your help.</FONT></P>

I have a 300SDL also and it consumes alot of oil and one time it did consume that much were u going in the mountains? If so that could be it or u may need a head gasket i know i do[:@]
