Engine for 300CD

RE: Engine for 300CD
Wow. I am trying to do the exact same thing with my 79 300CD. At least the deal is that if I fix it and get it running, it is mine. Pretty sweet deal I think! Problem is, I don't know a thing about engines and I think it's got some problems. When it was parked it was using a LOT of oil. I think my sister didn't put oil in it and things went from bad to much worse. Realizing the trouble it got parked and sat for eight years.
So now I have a car that was buring oil and then sat for eight years. Somebody help us guys!!!

Anyone have an idea what it would cost to rebuild or purchase an engine for a 1979 300CD?

You can post a request for one on www.junkyarddog.com and see what comes up. I was recently quoted $800 for one in Tyler, Tx, that did not include the turbo or freight.
