1992 190E --Help getting the drive belt on

Hello-

First thing, I'd like to say hi from Northern Kentucky, as this is my first time to this forum. Seems like there is great information available here. I'm hoping someone can give me some pointers for a strange problem I'm having with my 190E (92) 2.6 . I have a Haynes Manual so I believe I am attempting to put the Drive Belt back on in the order it suggests, however, it just seems like its way to tight for me to get it over the last 2 pulleys. I've tried releasing as much tension as possible with the tensioner Pulley but this does not seem to help.

I really cannot tell if Tensioner Pulley is moving at this point as it has been turned so many times in either direction. It does appear to be as loose as possible. Should I easily be able to see it turn? Perhaps this is my problem..

So, are there any tricks to getting the belt back on? I had to remove it in order to replace the Water Pump which went ok, but this belt issue has really got me scratching me head. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Cratebone
