trading in 08 bmw for 07 merc, need help!
I currently owna 2008 535i in perfect condition with leather, sports pkg, auto, and ipod intergration and I'am looking to hopepfully do an even trade with a dealer for a 07 mercedes E-350packaged similer. My car has 15,000 miles on it which is alot for an 08 but i know its a popular car right now that the dealer wouldhave no problem unloading. My Question is would it be feasible to think I would be able to trade my car evenly for an 07 merc-E350 without having to pay anything? Do dealers even do trades like this? I know I would get more money for it if i sold it privatly but then I wouldntsee the benefit of thetax deduction from the mercedes since i would be buying it outright. Does anyone have any insight or advice on my situation????
Thanks alot for your help.
Thanks alot for your help.
I've just done what you are thinking of 2 weeks ago. I had a BMW530i and have had lots of problems with its traction control and computer. When the mirrors didn't fold out, windows didn;t work and it had lots of various error messages on the idrive, i drove straight to the Merc dealer and traded it in. They would be happy for you not to pay anything if you current car is worth more or the same as the one you're gonna buy. I got a E320Cdi, it's a bit noisy but I love it. Mercs are much more luxury than BMWs and more comfortable. BMs are great for corners though. You just need to negotiate the right deal with all the skills you can. Selling private is a pain. Imagine you waste your spare time waiting for someone to come around and they didn't turn up! Make sure you get a high spec E class though.
The infamous idrive strikes again. When will BMW get rid of that? I have not heard a single soul who appreciates the feature. Since the 5 series is basically the MB equivalent to the E-Class I would imagine that they could do a swap.
I've done swaps for both cars and motorcycles. If you live in a good BMW market area, the dealer may find it to his advantage totrade. Bear in mind that wherever you are, there are some dealers who will simply try to take you to the cleaners no matter what. Arm yourself with information on the relative values of the respective cars as well as the local market and be ready to walk if the dealer tries to play with you. If he asks you how much money you have to make the deal, simply smile, get up and tell him to call you if he gets serious.
