Default some prejudice against high-end German cars?

I noticed the other day that some people are prejudice against high-end German cars like Mercedes, BMW, and Audi. I overheard someone at the gas station say something along the lines of me being greedy or snobby with my c-class. That person was egocentric, that is, he failed to see the world from another's viewpoint. Personally, I thought his Corolla was the ugliest most unattractive thing I ever saw, and I would bet it isn't very exciting to drive either. I still, however, can understand his viewpoint- it's economically efficient. But these people cannot understand us... we're like aliens to them. We have UFOS... haha. Is anyone else here with me on this?

I've experienced it too, lately. And I might add that it has been discussed on this forum before.Outspoken people have insulted my car across the pump, and as in your case, they didn't have much of a car themselves. At first, it would infuriate me that they would go out of their way to be nasty to someone who they do not even know, and I would bark back at them. But after giving it some thought and discussing it with others, I do not believe it is really about the car at all. I think they are having a difficult time in their lives, and are lashing out. So now when it happens, I might look at them, but I do not snap back or worsten the situation. I let the insult sail by and fade into the noise of passing cars.

I've gotten it a lot too. People making personal attacks like, "did you're parents buy u that?"... "you just had to buy a Mercedes!"... "Why not a reliable Toyota!?",friendly threats to impose damage, and frequentlyasked questions onhow much it costs, the noiseit makes (diesel, duh), plus, what I plan on doing with it (because I'm rich?).

Is it jealousy, ignorance or like Blue said with difficult times? Although I have gotten several people who like the car I really could care less about what others think. Most people are stupid anyways so that eliminates opinions...

I have 350k miles on the 190E, and the car looks nearly new. Nobody....EVER....starts the reliabilitybit with me at the gas pump.

AMG, answer back...
1) "have you ever seen one of those cars in an accident?"
2)"Crush-zone technology is great!...In an accident, your car will crush-up, to prevent damage to mine."
3) Did you know your insurance rating is based on 'The Dead Plantiffs Doctrine' ?" (dead folks don't sue)
4) "I guess style costs extra"

You know there was a news clip here, which I can't believe I didn't record, where a black CLK was stolen from a tire store and taken for a joyride by some punks. When they came to a traffic jammed intersection, they pushed14 cars and trucks out of the way, to get onto the highway. It was crazy! I mean just pushed them out the way like toy cars.Of course it was probably bad PR for our society or whatever, butthat car went though the intersectionlike a "bowling ball". Now of courseit was wrong, and I know the owner must have been furious, and there was all the colateral damage, but for some sick reason I just laughed and laughed. I had never seen such a thing. But nowwhen people call my car a "tank", I know there is 'some' truth to it, and Ilaugh.

When i was in high school i was the only person that had an MB of few parents had them but none of the kids. That was my1986 300sdl and it was vadalized a few times. One teacher said what did ur dad buy a new one? But i went to a financially diverse high school. I might have been in the top 25% but my dad was a truck driver and mom was/is a transscpitionist. Weird thing was we bought the car at an auction in 1999 for $5100 when it had 273k on it i got my DL in 2001 and i got everything from "i never believed u really had one" to "stinking diesel" Either way people will be jealous of something someelse has if they cant have it themselves.
