Mercedes cheap plastic

Has anyone else felt the pain of paying for a luxury car filled with cheap plastic??? I have a CL600 that has more plastic than a toy....where did MB quality go...MB has taken a turn for the worse...my trun accutator broke ( plastic) with a replacement costing $200 + dollars...I glued it ( same as a toy) and it works better than any short term replacement part.

If any MB engineers are reading this....don't claim world class unless you build a car with some....

So how does a "trun" stalk break? What did you hit it with? It is behind the steering wheel for cripes sake.

I've put at least 400,000 miles on Benzes and have yet to break one.

You mean the "trunk actuator"? That's a good question as to how you broke it. MB went down about $2.1 billion in profit to beef up quality after many complaints from the 90's and early 2000 models. My mother had an S-class from 2001 back in the U.S. and she had to replace the sidings of the seat twice as the plastic broke on it. She eventually had to trade it in for a 2008 which she's been in love with the whole time. So, you shouldn't be having trouble with plastic unless you're driving an older year that falls within the lemons. Sorry to hear you've been having such trouble with yours. The CL's can be wonderful automobiles.

Wow, the cheap plastic head on my key is starting to show signs of wear after 18 years of use. I guess they just don't build them like they use to.... chicago condos*

If if means that much to you, go to the dealer with proof of ownership and they will cut you a new key with new cheap plastic that may last another 15 - 20 years

Alok...you obiously don't know the design of a cl600...when someone paid $118,000 for a car that is loaded with plastic ( glove box closure now broken) there is a serios issue of what quality and wear time where put into production...
