That;s better!
First, it does not take a lot of fuel to stick the place up to high heaven. You probably do notice any leaks on the ground, so you are looking for small leaks. Most likely, you are looking for the remains of a leak, like an oil residue or grease looking residue.
When idling, you have a smell in the cabin. Is this with windows closed? If so, I suspect a leak in the fuel tank hoses in the trunk. You can access the tank via the trunk. You have to remove all the side trim usually to get the cover off at the forward end of the trunk. To get the side trim off, you may have to remove the hard plastic piece that is positioned over the rear threshold of the trunk. There are a number of rectangular fasteners. You get a thin flatblade screwdriver and pry up with the blade in the little indentation made for this procedure. Once pried up, remove the entire piece - the piece that comes up and the piece it fits into. You may also find some round fasteners. Again, pry up with a screwdriver and remove both pieces.
Once all off, if there is a leak, it should be very apparant. You'll certain ly smell it and you should see a resisue at the leak point. May be as simple as a loose clamp or cracked hose.
If the smell is coming from the engine area. pull the top plastic trim off the engine so you can examine the fuel hoses, fuel filter, injection lines, injectors, return hoses, etc. These should all be clean looking. If you find one with a residue, there's your leak.
Reort what you find and I'll try to help you with the repair if you can't figure it out.
PS - I have not worked on your specific model, but have owned a dozen or so Benzes, including a few diesels. But I'm sure we can fix you smell issue.
