Man’s Best Buddy

I didn't make up that saying, of course. Dogs like women just fine and so do I. What if Neil Armstrong had said, "One small step for persons. One giant leap for personkind." Does have quite the same ring, eh?

So anyway, do you have a dog? If so, what is it?

I have an 11-month-old Yellow Lab. I named him Merlin at first. Because of his color I renamed him Biscuit shortly thereafter, but it never stuck. The humans wouldn't quit calling him Merlin, soit remains so.It's just him and me in this big 'ol house now.

I refuse to alter his anatomy in any way. He will mature to be a ManDog and he will always havehis dew claws. He has those two itemsfor a reason. I believe I'm too insignificant to decide otherwise.

He only gets to ride in the truck. What a mess. Looks like Chewbacca (sp?)lives and shedsinthere. He's a constantly exploding furball. Have you ever seen a dog bounce around like a Superballinside a vehicle? Take Merlin to an automatic carwash. Ihad paw prints all over the interior, including onmy face.

I wish he'd quit chewing on me, though. And peeing on my car tires. He doesn't realize how close he comes to going to ManDog heaven.

I have a few best buddies and here they are - NOTE that
mine are a WOman's best buddy

Velcro 4 year old male rescued Red nosed American Pit Bull Terrier
Heidi 4 year old female rescued Staffordshire Terrier
Vannatu 10 year old female Sheltie we inherited after the
SO's aunt passed away

Then we have Clyde - our male blue and gold macaw

Finally we have our kitties

Scooter - 25# B/W long haired tuxedo AKA bigpig
Thumper is a siamese mix
JohnnyCat is a long haired orange tabby
Baxter is my big gray and white tuxedo
MayMay is my little splotched multicolored inheritance
Zoomie is Heidi's kitty
EmmaG - used to be MeanyGray is a shy long haired thing

and then we have Stubbs - she is a left behind kitty that
adopted us

I know you are going to ask so before anyone does - I d
animal fostering and rescuing in my spare time (what little
I have) so all the furry and feathered friends I have were
either rescued or inherited with the exception of Jonnycat
and Clyde who both were the SO's before we started dating
all those 10 years ago and Scooter and Thumper moved with
me from the east.

Velcro is like tigger in a pit bull body and he is a 60#
lap dog as are the other 2 but Heidi is 50# and Vanna is
a bit oversized and is as big as Velcro is so we have fun
around here - they all live in the house and we crate trained
them all so we would not have to worry about them tearing
up the house...

So there ya have it - add me and the boy and that is our
happy family

Ya know? Ford makes this little thing called an Excursion. You should check it out.

Do you get along with your neighbors, or do your pets just eat them if they give you any lip?

"Scooter" That reminds me. There's a little Scottish Terrier that visits my property almost every day. I have no idea where he comes from or where he's going to, but he passes by here on his way there. I looked at his collar one day and found his name is Scooter. And what an appropriate name. He just blurs from one point to another. He runs the gas right out of Merlin in just a few minutes. Merlin tries as hard as can to catch him but Scooter just buzzes from here to there dodging Merlin's best attempts. Finally, Merlin will just stop, sit down and watch him like he's watching a tennis tournament, just his head scanning back and forth. Scooter can't weigh more than ten pounds and Merlin's up to 60 now. Those two are a riot to watch. Then Scooter just scoots off to wherever he goes every day.

... and I think it's great what do with your spare time. I'm sure those animals appreciate it.

I actually looked at a ford - not the excursion tho LOL
I want the F150 HD series

My neighbors are ok with the pets - the dogs anyways -
they do not get to meet the cats as they are inside only
now that some are older... and the cats and dogs are not to
compatable as Velcro thinks they are part of his food chain so
best not to dangle the kitties there or it would be horrible
as we havae learned already

Thanks for the pat on the back - I love what I do for them and
seeing as in CA when you say PitBull the stigma attached
automatically puts them on death row - I do what I can to save
them from that and/or the pit fighting as well as try to educate
on the breed - just wish folks would listen...

Here is a pic of Velcro and Vanna - JC Penneys would not
let me in with 2 pittys and a sheltie so it was just my guy and
his old gal

Awwwww - what a cutie

They named Velcro at the shelter where we rescued him from.

Apparently when they would take him out he would try to jump in
their arms and if you sit with him anywhere (favorite place is the
sofa) - he has to be on you - he is really like a piece of
Velcro LOL

Did you notice how Merlin sits? His rear end is kindatucked under. He still sits this way. It's because my house has hardwood floors everywhere but the bedrooms. If he tries to sit normally on the hardwood, he keeps sliding slowly backward and has to keep coming back to where he was. So hedevelopedthis weird center-of-gravity-anti-skid system. Now he's deformed, darn it. Well, not really, but now he sits weird when he doesn't have to.

As long as you keep them in the back yard, it's cool. Alive, in the back yard. Fried, in the house.

You don't take any live ones when you travel, do you? I checked into a hotel once in New York. There were chicken feathers in the hallway. It was eerie. That wasn't from your chicken, was it?
