New Benz owner and new forum member needing advice

Hey guys,

I have been wanting a CLK 430 for many years and finally pulled the trigger today to use as a daily driver and put the vette back in the garage as a toy. All of my cars are always project cars and would love some advice on what exhaust systems and other mods people might recommend to pick up a little horsepower.

Thanks! :)

MBs are pretty effecient right out of the box in that there isnt alot of uncaptured horsepower to access with add-ons. In other words it will be extraordinarily difficult to do anything but loose horsepower with average mods. For example on a 350 cid, there are a dozen ways to catch a wasted horse here and there, but this is not as easy with MB; they have searched and found most of the gains. Specifically regarding exhaust, the pipes are already flow-through and matchedwith only enough back pressure to keep the exhaust valves warm. No sense in changing the exhaust unless you want a different sound, OR unless you add something to the front end of the formula such as more displacement, chipping,or supercharging. Probably the quickest gains in power to weight ratio is reducing the weight, and there is plenty of that to work with.
