Me N My 240D
Just wanted to say hi to everyone. I am a long time VW person who has owned rabbits and sciroccos. I have a show/race 84 scirocco project that has been fully refurbed and is getting a 2L motor to finish off all the body work and paint and suspension that has gone into it. I needed something to drive while I finished that project so I picked up a car off my buddy.
Its a 1975 white/beige? 240D. He chopped the springs so its tucking tire right now. Its in pretty good shape. A bit of rust but I have a degree in autobody so fixing cosmetic stuff is no big deal. If anything gets done ill shave stuff and paint if flat black. But for now its just a driver. It kicks out huge clouds of smoke when you decelerate or coast in gear (valve guide seals?) but i love it and laugh when driving it cuase its so much fun. Its 2" off the ground and just a riot.
Anyways. Hello everyone. Any advice on source of parts and info would be wonderful
Dave

Well the look of the body is great. Getting over speedbumps is another thing all together. I found a place with some springs so they will be replaced soon. I plan on keeping it low but not as low as it is now.
The smoke is way overboard and more then it should be. I think its something to do with the fuel pump timing or the injectors. Im going to stop by a shop tomorrow and find out what the deal is.
Anyone know where to find a engine manual on CD or even book?
