Default Just purchased a 1998 SLK230

I just purchased a 1998 SLK230. What would you recommend I do for preventative maintenance. I was thinking about changing all fluids. About how much will this cost at a dealership? The transmission
starts out with a slight whinning sound in first gear only. Is This normal or what? The car has 51000 miles.
Thanks,
EOLJR

According to the dealer, what all the fluids are probably $500 plus. With only 51K I would check my owners manual first, before starting to change fluid that might not need changing yet. But again, it is not bad idea.

Thanks C280 wizard. You were right about everything The dealor recommended changing everything except the transmission oil. They said not to worry about the trans because it was an electronic one. The total would cost about $400.00. The whinning noise the transmission was making seems to have gone away. The handbook states: the transmission will learn and adjust to your driving style!

I have the electronic tranny on my C28o. If you want it to really adapt to how you drive, disconnect the battery for 30 minutes that will set the ECU back to default. but you will have to rese the ESp ASR, one touch windown and a few other things, it is all in the owners manual. When I installed a CAI the instructions said to to that so th MAS will adjust quicker to the increased air flow, Also, the no hold key until the engine starts feature is finally working correctly. $400 is not bad at all, The tranny is sealed for like. so there is nothing to worry about, and IMHO it is a fantastic gear box. Good luck and have fun with your ride.
