Smile Help to choose a MB

I everyone, i`m new at the forum and new in the MB world. After 20 years of other italian , brithis, american , and spanis cars i`m decide to try Mercedes. I new to this models and need the help to decide betwen a w210 e300 turbo diesel ( 1998 model ); a w210 270cdi ( 2001 model ); a C Class 220cdi or 270cdi ( 2001 model ); or a w140 S300 TD With +- same km on the clock.
I live in Portugal and the price range from this models go from 12.000 to 18.000 euros. I want the most " bullet " proof car because i drive a lot of Km per year and in many articles that i reed is dificuld to understand the best model. I think there are some model to avoid with lucas injector pump ( but witch ones are ) and some other things.
Whats better 300td , 270cdi or 220cdi ?
Auto or manual gearbox
2001 C-class , w210, or W140 , and what year ?
I see many people speaking bad from w210 ...and others not...
Witch one are easy and less expensive to mantein?
Is seems that cdi are more expensive doo to electonic failures ?
In Portugal a good W140 S300 Turbo Diesel with 200.000Km cost like 14.000 euros but i think it´s best to avoid because of the big manteining costs as i read is it true ? because it seems a suberb piece of a car for the money.

Please i apresiate yours help to make my decision soon. ( sorry my bad inglish )
