Hello/Input

Dear Friends,

I was raised with my father owning a Mercedes 220D it was a 1970 that he bought in 1972 with 8000 miles on it. My dad had the car for over thirty years before he decided that it was no longer worth his while to baby it and work on it. I have always admired the late 60's and early 70's mercedes. That square body and big grill is just classic. They are such stately cars. Well I have some money buring a hole in my pocket and the 280 sel and 280 se are really turning my head. I also think the early 450 sel are very good looking. What tips can you offer me? I know on the 280 there are both 6 cylinder and 8 cylinder models. What do you recommend and how do the respective models do over the road with both engines? Note, my goal is not to have this as a daily driver, but just as a for fun car. I already have two cars that do daily driver duty for me. I still am not opposed to a 1970's 220 or 240D, but my father's car was plug slow though good on fuel. I also live in the midwest and I remember my father plugging in his car at night during the winter. This means I would need to kick a car out of my one car garage and I am not sure I want to do that. Any tips?

Thanks in Advance,
