C220 cdi
Hey guys
Any ideas how to deal with fault code 'diesel particulate reading: flow too small'? I am experiencing surging when driving. If the fault is cleared and I drive away, the engine cuts off after a while - 10 miles or so. The engine management light then stays on but clears off after 5 or so engine starts. So long the fault is not cleared off the memory the car doesnt cut off but the surging continues. I will retrieve the slip and tell you what it actually says next time I log in. Any suggestions are welcome. I am thinking that I may need to replace the airflow meter? But would like to hear your ideas before I get swindled? The other thing is that this tends to happen when there is just under a quarter tank of fuel and I have been told before that I should always have a full tank or thereabouts of fuel!! |
Its me again, I have got the Diag Report now. It states Code001: 2084 Diesel particulate filter. Flow monitoring of air mass. The air mass is too small. So do I need the particulate filter replaced? Is this something that needs replacement at regular intervals or only when it throws faults like now? Is it the casue for the surging?

I will get that looked into then on next service in a few weeks time. I am told that there is a procedure that can be done - hv no idea what that is but I am told it can resolve the fault without need to replace. I wonder if it will work? Your opinion?
