Question 85 300D Window Switch Problem

Hi I have a 1985 Mercedes 300d with 123,555k on her. I recently purchased her. She has some electrical issue with the power windows. at first the passenger side and driver side back seat window was stuck open. I replaced the switches from my parts car (the switches worked I tested them in the parts car). After I switched them I got the two windows up, then I tried the other two, now they are now stuck open. I also tested the two switches on the back seat doors, only the working two windows work. Also, after that happened,(I blew a fuse, twice) so I removed the wood panel by they gear box and began to test the other switches. When I tried the hazard light button, it made a electrical squelch sound and then I saw some small sparks by the hazard switch connects to the plug(it burned a small hole in the bottom of the switch.). now my turn signals do not work either.

Any help troubleshooting this would be great.

One easy way to clean your switches is put them in a dishwasher. It gets the dirt out then a shot of WD-40 like new again

An even easier way is to buy new switches from your local Benz dealer.

Thank you for the reply, It seems that my dirty switches were causing the fuse to pop. I cleaned the switches and now it works. Thanks.

Cycleboy I don't live next to a Benz dealer. So if I can fix something instead of replacing it I feal better. Especialy when the main problem with the switches is mainly they are dirty not broke or wore out. The dishwasher also works great on computor keyboards just make sure it is dry before plugging back in.
