No Im not a blonde, if you actually took the time to read my question , you would see that the car is not in my hands at this time. The vehicle was purchased in California and I live in NY. I personally have not seen the car. I had a Mercedes mechanic look at the for me with a salemen who already offered me $6,000.00 more than what I paid.
Without a manual to read I truly do not know how to remove the top.

the fuel tank flap should be unlocked when you unlock all doors. it has a vacuum element that retracts the pin lock lock when being actuated. in emergency case, you can open the trunk lid, get access to that element and you will see a yellow button. just pull it towards you and you can open the flap.

the standard equipment for model 129 includes a hydraulically actuated roadster top and a coupe roof. the switch for opening and closing the top is located on the center console. the top can be operated within approx 30 seconds and stored in the top compartment by pressing switch towards the rear and holding it in this position (when closing, it may be necessary to "help" slightly by manually guiding the front top frame into the initial catch on the front top locks).
for this purpose roll down side windows and put down roll bar and return to initial position afterward. the top moves only as long as the switch is actuated. the motion can be interrupted at any desired point and then continued or reversed.
during an interruption the top is locked hydraulically so it will not fall down. the lock is released when the ignition is switched "off" and the top can be moved freely.

Hi there,

I have a question regarding the hydraulic system:

If the roof does not function anymore and also the rollbar is not coming
up, which components are most critical?

Is it due to a defective relay that both the rollbar and the roof do not function anymore?

Or is it the Hydraulic "control unit" / computer?

Is it the relay on the pump itself?

By the way I checked all fuses and they are all ok.

There is no visible damage to the wires.

The last time that it worked it worked real slow, also I noticed that I had to fill the pump with hydraulic oil, so there is a leackage somewhere !!

(Maybe the 2 hydraulic locks on the front near the sunflapps)

Please advise what I should do, cause it is quite expensive to experiment with this and the first thing that I expect to be broken is the pump.

By the way does the pump work for the softtop AS WELL AS for the rollbar ????

Best regards from Holland

Hans
