1984 300SD Transmission and Drivability
I am new to the forum, My name is Dan I have an 84 300sd with a couple of problems. Well I'll explain, I was given the car that would not go over 30 mph. I put a trans in the car it will now go 70 but the trans shifs so fast that by the time your at 10 mph the car has gone through all the shifts. The car will take a long time to get to speed. Any thoughts on this. Fluid is clean and not burnt. it is full.
Next there is a drivability problem that on colder days the car dosent want to run it sputters and stalls out, It seems that the outside air is to cold to run it has to be 80 or better outside in order to run ok.

The bowden cable that is coming from the transmission to the throtle linkage retracts on its own if I pull on it. It is under tension. I have adjusted the cable all the way one direction and the other and that only seems to make very little change. Is there a governor in this transmission that could be stuck causing the throtle pressure to overcome the governor pressure not allowing shift points. I know about domestic transmissions but not foreign transmissions. As far as the fuel filters, where on gods green earth did MB hide those things. LOL.

I have the driveability fixed. It was the manual fuel primer, the o-ring was slit and air was leaking into the fuel system. I replaced the o-ring and placed rtv sealer around the pump and it is working great. I am now looking for the vacuum shift valves that are on top of the valve cover. Both of them are broken.
