Hello all I am new to this forum and would appreciate any help you veterans could give me. I am looking to purchase a 1975 450 sl convertible, she has 170,000 on the clock, body is straight interior is near perfect. She has an ehxaust leak which is audible, other thasn that the car seems to be in order. My concerns are obviously the exhaust leak, and what other issues should I be aware of before purchasing this car? If anyone could bring me up to speed on common problems with this year sl I would greatly appreciate it.

I am looking to purchase a 1975 450 sl convertible, the car looks to be in good shape besides a little surface rust bubbles around the drivers side marker lens. Mechanically she has an exhaust leak that is audible at idle. I have yet to crawl under the car to find out where it is coming from since the owner just started it in their driveway to let me hear her run. I plan on taking her for a test drive this week, the owner claims the exhaust leak is coming from the cat. What should I look for or be aware of mechanically before purchasing this beauty? She has 170,000 on the clock, any info is greatly appreciated.
