I have an 01 s500 the ride height is high in the back. the dash reads airmatic visit workshop. i have not had scanned as i am trying to find some answer first. i have seen many s500's raised in the rear. can anyone help.

There are a few possibilties, can you provide more info like, can you hear the compressor run? Can you hear any air leaking from the front or rear? Is the front lower then normal and the back raised, or only the back is raised?

It is common for the air matic pumps to fail, they can sometimes make a loud grinding noise when running, or not run at all, usually the 40A fuse is blown if the pump is shorted. Another common is the top of the front struts leak. This can be seen where the line runs into the top of the strut.
