OOPS that should be Oil Separator....

 

I guess but as its name suggests its separates oil from mist in the breather system of the engine.

But why do you ask?

just wondering, because it was a part of what was replaced sometime back when I had work done, and i never took time to figure out what it is, what it does, or if i was scammed

 

Its the black plastic bit on top of rocker cover with the hose off it. They can get gummed up inside.

They vary with different slk models.
It would be nice if ALL posters had their slk year and model added to their Sig

Thanks bazzle. mine is a '99 230. How does one know if the separartor needs to be replaced and if so is it an easy diy swap? And how about a PCV valve? I swap these out on my other cars.

 

Bazzle....or anyone out there.... Can an oil separarator simply be removed and cleaned out such as with a good carburetor spray?
