Top Motor (Hydraulic Pump) replacement

Hi forum,
Recently, the top motor (hydraulic pump) went out on my 98 SLK230. Took it to a local guy who said $1300 to fix. 900 for part 400 for labor. Yipes! I sawa refurbishedone on ebay for 300 bucks. Is this something I could replace myself or have a reputable car guy install easily?I'm pretty handy but the thought of hydraulic fluid scares me.

I have to get this done, I manually put up the top in the meantime and after 8 minutes of operation the beeper goes off 75 times (one munute 15 seconds) and makes me crazy.

Anyway to stop the beeping either way? It's the "lid not up" "put on your safety belt" beeping. Tell me there's a fuse I can yank until this part comes in!!!
V.

Thanks Bazzle but it's not my PSE Pump (I've replaced that twice however) It's the hydraulic pump that operates the hardtop.
