Replacing Radio for SLK230, 2001 model
I am thinking about replacing the factory radio and would like to know if this is a staight forward job. I know I need the key tool to pull the radio, any other advise from anyone that has done it.

if you have the keys to do it its really easy. Just make sure you have the radio code for the new radio otherwise it will not work. I also recommend writing the radio code for your old radio on the back with permanent marker, incase you decide to use it later.

I found it pretty easy to remove the radio without the special tools. I used a thin, flat blade screwdriver. One side, then the other.
I replaced the stock radio with the Becker Audio 10. It has a single CD player instead of cassette, and I believe the sound quality is better. Although I have the 6 disc changer in the trunk, I find the convenience of a dash mounted CD for 'mood' music is worth the $250 I paid for it. Run this search on Ebay - http://search.ebay.com/search/search...erce*+audio+10
It's a direct replacement for the factory radio, and still allows the use of the CD changer over the factory fiber connections. Installation took about 5 minutes. The only problem I had was that it does not support the factory voice control option like the stock radio did, but it really isn't a lot of trouble to press a button.
BTW, my SLK is 2001 320, but I imagine it is the same for 230.

I didn't change anything else, just dropped the Becker in and plugged the cables in, including fiber for the CD changer in the trunk. I generally don't blast when I'm listening, but I do rattle the windows occasionally and I listen while cruising with the top down. Sounds fine to me.

I recently got an SLK 230, 2001. having difficulties finding any type of cd player or mp3 player to go on it. since it's fiber optics, and will cost me a lot to get an adapter kit. anyone have any suggestion for upgrading my am/fm radio?
