My 1998 SLK 230 is running 21.5 miles per gallon. I only run on local streets, not on freeways. Is this within the normal range? If not, what can I do to my car to get better mileage?

 

i think it is normal. I have the C230 K. I cannot go under 12lt /100 km in city driving. Convert this to mpg and compare it. Anyways, I think it is normal

 

Your's is about 19.6 miles / gallons...hm...anyone else?

 

My 1998 slk230 gives about 24 on easy driving in the city. Less if I push it a bit.
On the highway cruising at about 100kph (62mph) I get between 32 and 34 mpg.

23-29mpg USA. All around driving with no lugging. 01 SLK 320 Auto. I have a K & N filter and for some reason get better mileage using premium.

 

I just completed a run today at mainly 100kph (62mph) for 200 kilometers (125 miles)
with a couple of town stops and lights in between.
I got 37 imp mpg or 7.5 l/100ks

I'm getting about 24 in city with my 98 c230
