P0243, P0410, P1235
I have a 2000 SLK 230. At Auto Zone I found out that the check engine light was for a P0410 error. I read the suggestions on this forum about cleaning out the air check valves, but I think there might be other problems. In the mornings when I first start the car, it seems sluggish, and it’s often difficult to accelerate.
The shop's code reader showed two additional errors--P0243 (recirculated air flap actuator for supercharger) and P1235 (?). The mechanic quoted $565 for a new air bypass valve (or throttle control valve?). He said that the electronics aren't working properly, so the valve isn’t opening and closing at the right times. He specifically mentioned that this would prevent the supercharger from working correctly. Does this fix sound reasonable? What are the long term effects if I don't fix it? Thanks. |

Did you ever get an answer on this one? I just bought one, as the dealer received an error code. They want $300 to do the installation, and I was going to try to see if I can put it on myself. Doesn't look like rocket science (famous last words)...

Clean the MAF first.
