I just got mine a few weeks ago and I am not sure if I should let my car go for 10K miles between oil changes as the dealer recommends. Any of you guys do that?

 

Its a personal thing.

I changed all the oils in mine as soon as I got it. Peace of mind.
Will do every 10,000k from now on not 15,000.

It's not a personal thing. Don't let it go for 10K miles unless you know for sure it has synthetic oil. If it has dino oil, change it at 3K miles.

 

10,000k is Kilometers (6000 miles (synthetic))

I change mine at 6-8000 miles, at Q-Lube with Quaker State full synthetic ( about $80). I have been told that the filter should be changed at 4000. Any thoughts?

 

I just got my car. It didn't even come with an owners manuel...so I think I will be on here checking out everything I possibly can. My car is currently in the shop right now because the catalytic converters broke apart inside...so they're being replaced. I know they're changing the oil with Mobil 1 Synthetic. So I can go 6,000 miles without an oil change. I'm curious about the filter too. Good question BikerDrew!

BMW's and Mercedes dealerships both put in mobil 1 synthetic oil. Not saying it is the best synthetic, but it has been proven that with oil changes every 15,000 miles do not cause significant problems. I would change it every 10,000, just a personal opinion. I would use mobil 1 synthetic though because 5 quart containers are only $25 at wallmart.

In my opinion, you know when you are not changing the oil often enough when after an oil change you have a power increase. You should change the oil before it gets too dirty, and if your car performs better after an oil change, then the old oil was hindering the cars performance, ie... not good.
