How to replace springs
I have purchased new springs for my 98 SLK 230 and am having trouble finding anyone who will put them in. I am mechanically inclined and might attempt this myself, (I have access to a shop with a lift). How do I do it?
Purchase a set of suitable spring compressors.
With weight on arm, put on compressors. Lower arm, remove spring.
CAREFULLY release. Wind up on new spring, replace, lift arm , remove compressor.
The above is written assuming you have good mech aptitude, use safe work practices and have suitable tools, jacks and stands etc.
Pads (top seat) in a different size may be required from MB to trim the vehicle too.
If springs are lower you may need camber kits too. Bit more involved in fitting those.
